D.I.T.C. A Tribute To...

Finally it's here! Vol. 5-6 of Beat Konducta. I've already purchased both on iTunes when it dropped digitally last year and this time it's A Tribute To...(take a guess.) Madlib and J. Rocc's tribute to the King of Beats Himself. (Have you guessed already?)

40+ tracks of nothin' but ill beats with the spirit of Dilla in the mix--obviously. It's a ride like no other Volumes--don't get me wrong, the other Volumes were dope, too--but this is different. C'mon...it's Jay Dee for goodness sake! Why? both Volumes have elements from Dilla's past albums--if you listen carefully, you can point them out--concocted in a way that Madlib--and J. Rocc--along with The Master himself that is Jay Dee, can only do. The best. It's been in rotation since I bought it digitally and I can't put this down. Get it...it's out now!

Suite For Ma Dukes EP

Thanks to Okayplayer for this one. And big-ups to the Yancey family. A number of projects have been put together to honor Jay's legacy and to help raise money for his family and/or for various Lupus foundations. One of the more creative projects is this, The Suite For Ma Dukes EP. This project was put together by Carlos Nino and Miguel Atwood Ferguson, and it's a 4 song EP featuring orchestral interpretations of some of J Dilla's finest work. Proceeds from the EP will go to Jay Dee's mom, Ma Dukes. Go show some support and buy the full project on iTunes, or cop the vinyl when it drops in April via Mochilla. If you will be in the L.A. area on February 22nd, get that real life feel for the project as a 36-piece orchestra performs the Suite For Ma Dukes EP live at the Harriet and Charles Luckman Fine Arts Complex.
