Hello, Good-Bye...(A Brief Moment...)

...Yes. Before I leave. First off, hope you enjoy these classics from back when days were dope and fresh...(yes, the dawn of pre-9/11).

Second, I just want to take a moment, before I come back here again after New Years Day, and say let's ring in '09 with a clean slate. A fresh start. Renaissance...? Maybe...But we all know the nation and the world is going all hay-wire, thanks to not only under the whole "BUSHanomics" era, but also us people to blame. Let's clean ourselves up and this goverment...I believe that Obama can do this once in office on Jan. 20. Okay, so I voted for him...and what? We need God...Pray. I'm not going to go on and on and give you my take...it'll just take to long, but ya'll know the deal, right?

Thirdly, let's reflect on what 2008 had brought to us on our tables...whether good or bad...happy or sad. Let out the negative karma, let in the positive. I can't wait until what 2009 will bring to me...But I'll be honest. 2008...it was an okay year for me, but 2009 will be much better, and I am confident about that.

Lastly, this past year alone had been chalked full of dope-ass music and well-produced albums...and new rookies to the music world. I can smell '09 with even more well-produced, well-sung artists in the indie and mainstream circuit...can't wait for more diggin' in 2009...Real, feel good music for the soul ya'll.

Oh...and what AM I doing on New Years...? Well, if you see me and I'm there, then that's what I'm doing.

Peace to all...ya'll know who you are...

Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down

Be like water making its way through cracks... Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless--like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.
-Bruce Lee

"We're left with the music as residue, and within it the lesson of soured idealism turned nihilism fed by rock-star excess. It's a slippery slope, and we all know where it's led some."
-Andre Torres (Waxpoetics Issue 32; Editor's Letter)

It's amazing how we wake up everyday and go about our daily lives, our routines, not knowing what will happen...what are day will bring...that outcome. We may question ourselves...but we still don't know. Every single day it's like that. Each time, we don't even think about the people around us, what they do...etc. (Well, perhaps "reality" TV shows...psh, fuck that). I really mean when we get out of our houses and live and work our lives just to get by this world. Good or bad, we jump up and get beat down. Hey, sometimes we don't even think of our own selves...Us people like to strive, be ambitious, have goals, settle down...some others...don't. We may stand apart from the rest of the crowd, whatever type of person you are, and a few just do their own thing and say that they are (pardon me) "different". Conformity can suck it. I'm not sure that you follow, I don't care if you don't, but simply put...society, life, cultures...this world we call home...is like water, baby...it's like water...The difference between good or bad is that we need those, a balance...Be water, my friend...

I really like how I'm different; conformity...sorry, pal. Don't ask me for doin' it...believe me when I do it.

Hey, Enough About You For A Hot Minute...Give Back!

As we prepare for Christmas Day in exactly 7 days, let's not forget what Christmas is all about, ya' feel? And let's forget about the whole 'me' factor for a hot minute and take time to give back to others, whatever it may be. I mean, not just Christmas, it doesn't have to be an annual thing...but do it anytime of the year.

We all know that the world is goin' nuts and it shouldn't take a Christmas holiday to have peace, care, and love...it should be needed EVERY SINGLE DAY. For you, me, and others we don't know. Yeah, yeah...I know you may be saying to me that it's easier said than done...but what the fuck peoples!? We ignore that...when it shouldn't be ignored.

We always miss the little things in life...yet also the important ones...

Don't forget who you are as a person...why we live and what our purpose is in life because we only live once and we all should take part together to make others happy and this world a better place.

Peace, love, and God bless.

Mick Boogie & Adele - 1988

Got this mix from Press Play Fashion Forward. This is in constant rotation in my playlist right now. Shouts to Mick Boogie on this...Click album cover for download via zshare. Description and track list below...

Fresh off the success of the internationally-acclaimed Viva La Hova, the MB team have reunited to introduce rock star Adele (nominated for 4 Grammy awards) to a whole new audience.

Adele’s album 19 set trends and created influence in the pop, rock and international worlds. But what would happen if the vocals and instruments of 19 were combined with the hip-hop sensibilities of the late 1980s, considered by many hip-hop’s golden age?

The result is the new release from Mick Boogie… Adele: 1988.

More than a mashup, it’s a complete reinterpretation of Adele’s album as only Mick Boogie and friends can do.

1. Chasing 1988: The Intro (f/ 6th Sense)
2. Day Dreams (nVMe Remix)
3. Tired (6th Sense Remix)
4. First Love (Remot Remix f/ Naledge)
5. My Same (Garbs Infinite Remix)
6. Melt My Heart To Stone (Kickdrums Remix f/ Big Pooh)
7. Cold Shoulder (Garbs Infinite Remix)
8. Right As Rain (nVMe Remix)
9. Make You Feel My Love (Remot Remix)

Guys Can Victoria's Secret, Too...

Oh yeah...and what? Gyeah. Went out to the mall today looking around for presents. Saw a few people there, too. Shouts to Sean, April, and Sis. Lyn! See ya'll this Friday! Anyways, I went to a few stores thinkin' of what things to give to people, like my 'Secret Santa' and...Ashley! With me was Sean and we went to some stores while he was waiting for his car to finish at Sears for an oil change...Then I decided to go to Victoria's Secret to get Ashley her present, which is a gift card worth $50. There's nothing wrong going there...

This is yours now...

'Secret Santa'...I'll be looking for yours tomorrow...I know what it is, too...

A LOT Of 'R 'n R' (...Really Unwind)

Ah, the comforts of home. I just got back from my Algebra final and I can really, REALLY unwind now...instead of just a little when I was busy. Now I can start to concentrate on other things and dope-chillin' with my friends and fam...(Party anyone...?)

Good things in life...my life, as well...Good people, good music, art...good...FOOD...!

It's just me, myself, and I...with CD's and records...Jazz, Hip-Hop, and good old Soul. Gyeah, it's that shit...

Okay, back to No Reservations...

M.S. N.E.R.D. - Sooner Or Later. Latest single off Seeing Sounds. It's a recession ya'll...

D.I.T.C.

There are some really dope music that are out today. As usual, on a Tuesday. But this one REALLY stands out to me...I previewed this yesterday, and I personally think this is some serious headphone listenin'. Cop this today! This would be my Christmas present for me =)

Final today...!

Go Ahead, It's Okay To Put Q-Tips In Your Ears

Pardon the 2-in-1. But in a much funner note...watch Q holdin' it down at the House Of Blues raisin' some hell with "Vivrant Thing"/"Award Tour". Two of my faves! You'd never guess who makes a quick performance...!

Ashley, I still see ya' girl, where you at? =)

Good-Bye Gov'na.

First of all, let me tell you...I'm dumb. I failed to read it carefully. Traffic court hearing is on January 15, '09 and not today, which is, well...the 15th! (Shut-up everyone...)

Impeach the Illinois Governor. That's what I was watching just a few moments ago on the news. Really...what world are we livin' in? First Ryan, now Blagojevich? (Try pronouncing that shit...)

He failed the Illinois people. He completely disrespectedly, disregarded Obama. The dignity. The respect. His power and authority. He abused himself. What a disgrace...What a let down.

I think this song represents where we peoples are at right now...Peep.

Let me do this. What do YOU guys think about all this? About the world goin' nuts in all. Tell me what you think.

It's a recession ya'll...

Okay, okay...enough drinking with friends...And NO I was not drunk...I had to drive. Just drank several cups...Must concentrate for my final...

Hope that traffic court hearing tomorrow goes really well...and NOT a flop, again...

It Was Like I Back-Pedalled.

***Note To You Readers: You might want to read the entry directly below this one (if you haven't already), also from today, FIRST to fully get what I'm talking about...

Answer: My mom's SUV. Which is mine now. That '95 Blazer. Didn't expect that to happen now did we?

Turns out my parents went out to Chicago and picked up a used 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Loredo. (It's similar to the photo). Really nice, though, when I went to the garage to peep the Jeep. Black and cloth seats. It's the Gold Edition. Sounds luxurious, yet sporty-looking.

Complaints? Eh. I'll get over it...At least it isn't a van, right!? Well, I was actually looking forward to a car, but at least it's something. The only problem I have with the Blazer is that there isn't enough leg and feet room, and it feels stuffy and tight whenever I drive it. My parents can drive it fine 'cause they're smaller than me, but I can't. Oh, and my feet are kinda big and get stuck with the pedals...not good. Those are the cons. The pros? Bumpin' sound system...me likey!

But I'm gonna try to convince my mom to switch with me so I can get the Jeep, concerning the fact that there isn't enough leg room for me in the latter...

And so, that's the end of that chapter. Now to end the other on Monday...

Thanks for that encouraging e-mail message, Jason. Good lookin'...you win...nothing. I kid...

b.

A Cold Saturday

'Sup folks! It's cold and windy here in Chicago...and we got a fairly decent amount of snow recently. It's not even Winter yet! Well, close...but still...

Question of the day: Is there a car for me out there...? Let's find out...

Have a wonderful Saturday.

Another Day...

...A beautiful day in fact. Happy Friday to all, despite the midst of all the world going nuts...But here's a little somethin' to make your day. Just somethin' to chillout to and vibe out with your homies or that special someone. You know...head-noddin' music. Have a lovely Friday. CHEERS!

It Was A Flop.

I didn't really expect what was to happen today.

Okay. So I woke up this morning...around 8AM and I was still a little worried about today (which was my court hearing). At the sametime, however, I was also worried about my upcoming test (which is like in 3 hours, as of writing this entry). Anyways, I woke up early so I can at least study more for my big test...and after I was done, I got ready for my court hearing, (this is traffic court by the way) and so my mom and I left to go there...and DAMN! It was busy and packed. The security line, starting from the metal detector all the way to the front door, was LONG. Luckily the security guards attitudes kept the line movin'
along...

So long story short...The court hearing that was supposed to be scheduled today, for me, didn't happen. Why? WAY too busy. It was a FLOP...

I'm actually rescheduled on Monday the 15th, same time, same place. (Hope and pray for me peoples...)

I got scared and worried for nothing, at least for today. And it isn't over...

b.

(Be back soon...)

UPDATE! 7:35PM

Gyeah. Just got back home from what seemed like a long class. Test was sorta-kinda easy...(just hope I pass...)

Well, not too worried about the court hearing that got rescheduled to Monday. I'm just worried about getting my test back, whether or not I passed, and the final that's coming up on Tuesday. Shit. I just want to get over this, done, done...and DONE!

b.

P.S. ...Really, what's up with our Illinois Governor, man!? Now, Obama urged him to step down, but then, he refuses...

Hello World...

Ah, like Chuck D said, "Once again back he is (or is it, 'it is'...?) the incredible...!"

Hell yeah, it's me. No? Don't know? Don't remember? IT'S BRIAN, FOOL!! Yeah, yeah, you know...the one you'd grow to know...know to love, love to know...? The one you'd hate to love, or love to hate...? Yup, that's me. I'm back. And no...I will not accept any statements or you people that I know (or don't know) about whether to sign up or to come back to MySpace, Facebook, Friendster, etc., etc. NOTHING will convince me to do that. Shit's overrated...

It's not like I hate it...or hate you guys for having it. I'm just different. I grow and go by that. I'm just out of that phase, kids.

Anyways...I blog. Since it's the "cool" thing to do now, and I admit...I love it. (Shouts to Freddie Joachim and ?uestlove...ya'll got me into this blog thang by reading your shit on your blogs, you guys inspired me, thanks!) Writing down thoughts about anything...ROCKS MY @*&$! So for you people out there sittin' (or standing), takin' a glance of my first entry on my blog,...or that you just don't care whatsoever...this will be my new home. A place for my thoughts and whatnot. Okay? Okay. (Wait...make that "unofficial first entry"). Think I'll start up on January with a full/thorough entry...

But here's something I'll write about. Two words: CAR ACCIDENT. Which happend a few weeks ago. Wish I took photos of my van. Yeah...VAN. A '93 Nissan Quest to be exact. TOTALLED. Oh well, wasn't really too concerned about my car...more like my well-being. Yes, I am okay. I'm just fine. Thanks for asking. I need a new car anyways...like
this car for instance. I'm determined to get this car anytime soon...Well, as soon as I pay this $75 ticket PLUS a court hearing tomorrow. I hope and pray nothing else stirs up in there. But that's what happend recently. Have a great night.

By the way...shouts to John. Thanks for those ill tracks. I'm vibin' to 'em right now...

More soon...

b.
